Viber provides multiple functions to make your communication as convenient as possible.You can send one-to-one messages or start a group chat with up to 199 people, so it’s a great tool to stay in touch with your friends and family, plan events, or just share a joke. Moreover, you can customize your photos and messages with doodles and drop a pin on a new place to share your location.
If you are calling another Viber user, it won’t cost you a dime. However, if you need to reach someone who doesn’t have Viber, you can make low-cost calls to mobile phones or landlines anywhere in the world using Viber Out credits. And if you need to say something briefly, just send an instant voice message by clicking the “Hold & Talk” button.
There is a media gallery in chat info screen that curates all of the links, photos, and videos exchanged in your conversations. You can refer back to important items quickly, so nothing ever gets lost. Another cool feature of the desktop version is large emoticons. They get your messages across bigger and make them look better.
When you receive an incoming video call, you can easily choose to answer it with video. Selecting this option will automatically open your camera, and you can get the conversation going right away.
If you miss a call, you’ll instantly get a notification icon in your chat list and be able to call back with a single click.
Viber has a clear and intuitive interface with a light-colored menu and purple icons. The background of the conversations is customizable, so you can choose any theme you like.
There is also a menu right where you would type your messages. It features the + icon that lets you share files of nearly every type up to 200 MB; the @ icon that opens a menu with content and web search options; the sticker icon with the sticker menu for your entire collection; and the microphone icon on the right that lets you record and send voice messages.
With Viber, texting always seems brighter and funnier. There are numerous stickers to express every emotion you possibly can have, with thousands of fun designs to choose from. No matter what you are talking about, a sticker can say it all.
With Viber, you don’t need to jump through various registration hoops and build a contacts list before you start. Viber cuts all that hassle — once you open the desktop app, you need to:
- Choose your country from the dropdown menu;
- Enter your phone number;
- Click "Scan with my phone" to scan the QR code;
- Using your smartphone scanner, scan the QR code.
If there is a problem with your camera and you can’t scan the QR code:
- Choose “My camera is not working. What can I do?” option;
- Click Copy to copy your secret identification key;
- Send this copied key to your smartphone via email or message;
- Open the message on your smartphone;
- Click the link and choose Open to open in Viber;
- Select Approve and then Yes;
- Your desktop app should now be activated.
That’s it. Viber will sync all your contacts from the address book who already have Viber with your account. Once the sync is done, you can dial your friends directly without incurring any call charges as well as send text messages, share your location and media files.
